Pricebooks are simply an easy way to define what items are available to be added to an invoice.
Pricebooks can contain up to 2000 items, each item has a code, description and unit cost.
Web users can select a pricebook for each of their templates. When using the API, you can select a specific pricebook for each job you create.
If you are using our customer specific pricebooks features, you can also inherit the pricebook from the customer record.
Here is an example of an invoice with pricebook 12345 attached to it:
<invoice>
<number></number>

Sample Description Here

<pricebook_id>12345</pricebook_id>
<tax_rate>5.5</tax_rate>
<line_items type="array">
<line_item>

wid1

Widgets

<unit_cost>100.0</unit_cost>
<requested_quantity>0.0</requested_quantity>
<actual_quantity>1.0</actual_quantity>
</line_item>
</line_items>
</invoice>It also now possible to control the content of a pricebook via the API. You can use the pricebook API route to get a list of available pricebooks and their matching IDs. More information on this route can be found in our standard documentation.
